This question depends on where you live.  We are a Minnesota based company and October is not too late to fertilize your MN lawn.  The most ideal time to fertilize is from early to mid-October.  You want the final application to be done 2 to 3 weeks before the ground freezes.

This fall fertilizer application will be the final treatment of the season. This will feed the lawn into dormancy giving it the nutrients it needs to provide the turf with a strong and healthy root system. This application will assist with helping the turf survive through the long winter months.

At Northern Roots, our basic lawn care program includes…

  1. Lawn Mowing – Once a week, we’ll glide through your turf, ensuring no more than a third of your leaf blades are removed. With every mow, we’ll trim the edges hugged by grass and get rid of any stray lawn debris that lingers on hard surfaces. These services will be completed with precision and care to ensure your lawn remains picturesque and ready for use.
  2. Spring Cleanup and Dethach – Spring cleanup and dethatch entails gently dethatching the turf, gathering fallen leaves, clearing debris from all landscaped areas, performing lawn mowing and trimming, and disposing of waste. Additionally, landscape bed maintenance can be tackled during this session.
  3. Fall Cleanup – Embrace the beauty of autumn with our comprehensive fall cleanup package! The fall cleanup package includes blowing debris and leaves from all landscaped areas, mowing and trimming the turf, and collecting leaves. Typically, we carry out these tasks once in the fall, complete with proper disposal. Additionally, landscape bed maintenance is available during this season.
